Family Forest® Flooring is here!

More than a great product or a great story, our VFF-Certified Family Forest® flooring also presents a great opportunity to protect the character of Vermont. Roughly 80% of Vermont forestland is divided among small, private landowners, making it especially vulnerable to fragmentation when those owners can't afford to keep the land and decide to sell it for subdivision.

Vermont Family Forests and Vermont Land Trust are working with family forest owners to produce Family Forest® flooring—sending more value back to the forest and forest stewards and helping keep local forests healthy, beautiful, and productive.

Our FAMILY FOREST Trademark identifies products which contain wood from well-managed forests certified in accordance with the Principles and Conservation Practices of Vermont Family Forests.

Why buy locally?

When you buy locally, your money stays within the community, bolstering the local economy. And when you purchase goods produced locally, you increase your community's self-reliance and reduce your dependence on goods trucked from far away, reducing fuel consumption and pollution.

VFF uses local goods and services whenever possible in carrying out its community-based forestry model.
