Come savor the music of Southwind recorder ensemble at Vermont Family Forests’ beautiful Wells Farm in Lincoln.

Wood-fired pizzas and refreshments to follow. We’ll provide flour crusts, sauces, and cheese. Bring your own favorite topping to share! If you’re gluten-free, bring a crust that works well for you.

About Woodwinds

Using art, science, and craft, Lester and Monique Anderson tended and loved their land in Lincoln, Vermont, for more than four decades. Their care manifested in bountiful gardens, meticulously tended fields and stone walls, restored barns, a productive apple orchard, and rewilding forests whose recovery is monitored through the Colby Hill Ecological Project.

Before they were land conservers, Lester and Monique were, among many other things, recorder players and members of the Washington DC Recorder Society. Since 2011, Woodwinds in the Middle Barn has celebrated Lester and Monique’s deep love for their home lands and for music.

Beautiful music is an essential part of community well-being, so Woodwinds in the Middle Barn fits well with Vermont Family Forests’ mission to observe, understand, and preserve forest ecosystem health; to practice forest-centered conservation that is holistic and adaptive; to support careful management of local family forests for ecological, economic, and social benefits; and to foster a forest culture focused on community well-being, ecological resilience, and the quest for an optimal land ethic.

Another essential part of community well-being? Good food! This year, we’ll be serving up wood-fired pizzas from our earth oven. We’ll provide the crusts, sauce, and cheese. Please bring a favorite topping to share.
